City Hall

A Civic Monument in the Heart of Town

Earlier workshops called for a new city hall in a central location outside of riverfront flood zones. This plan goes far beyond. Every day, thousands of visitors enjoy the beauty of the Escatawpa River when they cross over the bridge coming from Interstate 10. With Moss Point’s new city hall in place, those drivers have a striking landmark that highlights the beauty of the city on the river’s banks, and that says “Welcome to Moss Point.” The design elements, all of which make city hall more accessible, send a signal to the people of Moss Point that their government is approachable and open for all to see.

The New City Hall Houses:
• Town Hall for Board of Aldermen meetings and other public functions
• Community Development Department
• Permits and Zoning Department
• Tax & Public Utility Departments with bill payment desks
• Voter Registration
• Mayor’s Office
• Economic Development
• City Clerk Department
• City Human Resources Department

Built for Access and Interaction

City hall figures prominently at the corner of Main Street and McInnis Avenue. The plan calls for a design with a grand front entrance on Main Street from which city officials can make public pronouncements, and where special guests can watch parades and other festivities. Added parking along Ford Street also makes visiting city hall easier for residents.

City Hall’s Porch Along the Green
On the side that sits along the town green, city hall also has an inviting set of steps and trees for sitting under the shade. In a time when most public architecture shuts people out with concerns about security, this is a city hall that is as inviting and friendly as the people it represents.
