Town Green
Sitting between the Escatawpa River, city hall, and commercial space on Main Street and McInnis Avenue, it is the gathering place for Moss Point.
Its design preserves and accentuates views of the river. From this land the city grew and took shape as a place oriented to the river; it is where the city came into being and it is where the city comes together.
In addition to creating new public space downtown, the town green maintains and creates views of the Escatawpa River from Main Street and the new city hall.
During storms, the town green acts as a sink for stormwater downtown. Planting strips and grading slow down runoff while filtering out pollutants through natural processes before it enters the Escatawpa River. The green also keeps more of Moss Point's downtown flood plain open and able to handle water during extreme weather.
Festivals
The town green provides additional space for Moss Point's many festivals and public events. At other times, it is a passive park that locals and visitors enjoy alone or in the company of a few friends and family.
