A House For Juanita and Willis

Community Partners : East Biloxi Coordination Center
Building Partners: Habitat for Humanity North Virginia & Joining Hands Network of Hanover, PA.

Juanita and Willis lived with their two young sons in the FEMA trailer next to their gutted slab-on-grade house, which was subsequently demolished to make way for their new house. Their lot is much wider than most standard Biloxi lots, allowing a deviation from the standard Biloxi bungalow.

The square-shaped plan includes three bedrooms and two bathrooms, plus a spare room where Juanita can do paperwork and Willis can use his exercise equipment. The house is ADA accessible and features a screened porch. The main living space is open, with no dividing walls as per Juanita’s request for flexibility.
