A House For Ruth
Community Partners: Hope Coordination Center
Building Partners: Hope Force International, Hands On Gulf Coast
Ruth has been a resident of East Biloxi all her life. Her home was flooded with over 8 feet of water and shifted off its foundation. She left her home before the storm and, upon returning, stayed in the flooded home until she received a trailer from the First Presbyterian Church. She lived in her trailer for over two years until her house was finally built in a blitz-build. Through the collaboration of volunteer organizations including Hope Force, Hands On Gulf Coast, and the Hope Coordination Center, the house was built in approximately one week. The new house is handicap-accessible and features two bedrooms, an open living and dining room, a modest kitchen and a small back porch.
