Community Meetings

During the preliminary planning process for the Bayou Auguste Greenway the GCCDS held a series of public meetings to solicit ideas, questions, and concerns from the community. These meetings were attended by a diverse and interested group of individuals from the surrounding neighborhood and local schools.  The meetings provided valuable feedback on the proposed design for the greenway and many individuals agreed to be a part of a community advisory board. The GCCDS continues to reach out to a larger segment of the community about the greenway project through written materials, on-site information and work days, and public meetings. Repeated efforts are made to involve the community in the planning and restoration process with the goal of fostering long-term interest and stewardship for the bayou.
