Monitoring
During the 2010-2011 school year, students from Biloxi High’s Environmental Science Class and Envirothon Team helped to collect and record baseline data on the water and soils of Bayou Auguste. Students performed a number of tests which included checking the water and soil for possible contaminants and available nutrients. This data will supplement data collected by the project’s wetland ecologist for restoration reports. Testing on the bayou will continue during and after the restoration process in order to track any improvements or changes in the bayou’s health.
