Holley Street Development

Community Partners: Hope Community Development Agency, Mississippi Development Authority, Alembic Development

Hope CDA, Alembic Development Company, the Mississippi Development Authority, and the GCCDS are working on a 40-unit affordable development project which will be located on a substantial number of scattered-sites along with several units grouped together on Holley Street in East Biloxi, Mississippi. By utilizing previously developed infill sites within the same neighborhood, this project integrates into the existing community more naturally and shows significant consideration to issues of environmental conservation and low-impact development. No virgin land will be impacted, no new roads or transportation routes are required, and no ecological habitats will be endangered.

The GCCDS has created a number of base models for construction, allowing homeowners to choose and modify the scheme to better suit their modes of living. The GCCDS has worked with Hope CDA and Alembic to prepare documentation to apply for an Enterprise Green Communities Grant. The Holley Street Development will be a multi-phase project with the first 4 units set to begin construction in early 2010.
