PROPERTY OWNER’S GUIDE TO FLOODPROOF CONSTRUCTION
The GCCDS is currently writing the Property Owner’s Guide to Floodproof Construction, to be used as a tool to help floodplain managers and commercial property owners make informed decisions regarding the opportunities for building in the floodplain. This publication will be available in both print and web format, and distributed through floodplain managers in communities along the Mississippi Gulf Coast. The main objective is to provide a clear, concise resource to help property owners navigate local floodplain management ordinances, summarize the federal floodplain policy, demonstrate alternative mitigation strategies, and provide a checklist of site and building applicability for commercial floodproof construction.
